Reporting to Congress
The Department will provide periodic reports to appropriate oversight committees of Congress with respect to all cases in which the (DOJ) Department invokes the privilege on behalf of departments or agencies (FBI, CIA,SS) in litigation, explaining the basis for invoking the privilege.(of state secrets)"
Classified Information Procedures Act (CIPA) Sec. 13. Requires the Attorney General to report to Congress, on a semiannual basis, about all cases which were not prosecuted pursuant to the guidelines issued by the Attorney General under this act. The report shall be given to both the House and Senate Intelligence Committees and to the chair and ranking member of the respective Judiciary Committees. The Attorney General is also directed to report on the operation and effectiveness of the act and on any suggested amendments as necessary. |
